Commerce Writing - Event Post

After creating thousands of pieces of commerce content throughout my career, I've become excellent (if I do say so myself) at writing everything from SEO-rich evergreen content to engaging articles focused on sales events, daily deals and more.

The first example shown here is a power tool deal round-up I wrote for Autoblog during the Prime Day 2024 event. It ended up securing the coveted "top stories" placement on Google search for "Prime Day tool deals" (number 1), "Prime Day power tool deals" (number 1) and "Prime Day DeWalt" (number 4) for multiple weeks leading up to the event and ultimately amassing over $100,000 in shipped item revenue.

Of course, not all events are sales events -- Some are just regular old holidays. However, every holiday can be an opportunity if the sales are there, so earlier this year I wrote the above post about "Pet Day," not only providing readers with great information about pet deals, but also cross-linking to pages with valuable tips about how to take a road trip with your dog, the most pet-friendly cities in America, and how to keep your pets secure in the car.

At Autoblog, "deal posts" were our commerce bread and butter. The one above, written in January 2024, was one of our most profitable posts of the year. As with all of these posts, I identified the deal, gathered the information/assets and wrote the article.

Quality evergreen content is essential for long-term brand health. This content was a big focus of mine at Autoblog. More often than not, these posts consisted of "Best Of" content. Above is an example of one such post, focused on outdoor power generators, and one of the most profitable evergreen articles I wrote for Autoblog, consistently, from 2021 to 2024.

Another example of a "standard" evergreen post for Autoblog would be the "Best Dash Cams" post above. This was another historical top performer for the site, updated throughout the years to stay fresh for the readers and to ensure favorable Google search treatment.

The post above is one I'm particularly proud of. I, myself, am not a particularly voracious F1 fan, but as you might expect from a site named "Autoblog," we covered the sport relatively closely. While looking for commerce opportunities in the space, I identified a big issue: It's almost impossible to find all of the information for the F1 viewing schedule on one single web page. Since an all-in-one resource didn't already exist, I decided to create the definitive F1 viewing guide myself. I can confidently say that the post below is the most comprehensive and easy-to-use article on the subject that exists on the internet, as of the time of this writing.
